Winter schedule

With the end of Daylight Savings Time on October 25th, Venice Kayak now operates on the winter schedule, where we only offer short tours within the period of 9am – 3pm each day.

The tours can be 9-13, 10-14, or 11-15.

Regular tours are in our online calendar until the end of November, for as long as water temperatures are high enough for safe paddling without the need of a wet suit or dry suit.

Paddling in the winter requires more experience and more equipment than paddling in warmer periods.

The consequences of an accidental capsize can be severe in the winter unless you’re properly clad for cold water paddling, while in the summer you just get wet and no further harm done.

Therefore, in the winter you need to wear either a dry suit or a neoprene wet suit for adequate protection. Since Venice Kayak does very few tours during the winter – requests are rather far in between – we do not have winter paddling equipment available.

If you have your own wet suit or dry suit with you, we’ll assume that you also have the necessary paddling experience needed for cold water paddling, and we’ll be willing to do a tour with you.

If, on the other hand, you do not have the necessary equipment for paddling in the winter, then you might also lack the necessary paddling skills for winter paddling, and we would recommend against doing a kayaking tour in Venice during the winter.
