Vogalonga 2019 is approaching – being on June 9th this year – and due to cancellations Venice Kayak still has a handful of boats available for our weekend Vogalonga offer.
The Vogalonga is a 30km non-competitive race in Venice, open for all athletes and all kinds of rowed or paddled boats. It is at its 45th edition, and the previous years it has had 8000 rowers in 1800 boats.
The route starts in front of St. Mark’s in Venice, proceeds up the northern part of the Venetian lagoon, passes Burano and Murano, and ends rowing down the Grand Canal which is closed for motorised traffic for the occasion.
It is an event not to be missed.
Vogalonga with Venice Kayak
Venice Kayak supplies all the necessary equipment for those who participate with us. Quality kayaks, paddles, spray skirts, buoyancy aids, jackets, dry bags, etc. We’ll organise all the logistics of picking up your event kit from the organisers, and getting your safely to the starting line.
If you prefer, you can do the Vogalonga at a moderate pace with one of our guides.
After the event you can enjoy the evening on the Certosa island, where there’s a restaurant, bar and a pizza take-away, all in the middle of a beautiful park.
Two days in Venice
Our offer is for a two day package. The Vogalonga on Sunday, and a guided tour in kayak on Saturday.
There are two options for the Saturday tour.
You can chose a guided visit to the Lazzaretto Novo, a 16th century quarantine station in the Venetian lagoon, which is only open on appointment, and lunch on a small beach on Sant’Erasmo. Naturally we’ll go there kayaking.
The alternative is a guided paddling tour of Venice city, exploring many of the smaller canals of the city that you won’t see doing the Vogalonga.
