The city of Venice has introduced new traffic rules as of March 1st, 2015.
The new rules imposes some restrictions on where we can paddle in Venice, and they will force us to change our routes and itineraries.
Most notably, the entirety of the Grand Canal is now inaccessible to us.
The changes of the traffic rules are not targeting Venice Kayak as such. They are part of a larger reorganisation of local traffic, which has not worked out to our advantage. The new restrictions are for kayaks, canoes, dragon boats, SUPs and several other types of human powered vessels.
Venice Kayak is working on several fronts to have the new rules either overturned, modified or at least clarified, as the current wording is very ambiguous and open to interpretation.
