The Venetian lagoon is full of surprises, and few people realise that you can find yourself immersed in both history and nature while having the Venetian skyline just a few kilometres away.
Well within reach of a 2-2½ hour relaxed paddle from our base on the Certosa islands you can find the 16th century fortress of Sant’Andrea, orchards and small farms on Sant’Erasmo, the ancient quarantine station on Lazzaretto Novo, and marshes full of small winding canals and a plethora of birds.
Typical itinerary for a morning tour in the lagoon
The morning tours in the lagoon normally starts at 9:45, meeting your guide in the bar of the Certosa Hotel. You’ll be in the kayaks around 10:30, and back at the Certosa island between 12:30 and 13:30.
Half day paddling tours in the lagoon are between 8km and up to 15km. They are suitable for all paddlers.
The area reachable during a 2-2½ hour paddle from the Certosa island is approximately as indicated on this map.
Groups can be up to 6 persons. Larger groups can be arranged, but must be agreed upon well in advance, as we have to find an assistant guide for larger groups.
Private tours are available on request, if booked well in advance.
The morning tour in the lagoon is scheduled regularly from late March to late October. Outside the main season they are done a bit later due to the shorter daylight hours.
